HSA investigating fatal West Cork accident

Monday, 23rd October, 2017 12:40pm

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has confirmed they are investigating an accident yesterday in West Cork where a man died while carrying out storm repairs.

A statement from the HSA said the accident occurred at approximately 1.30pm yesterday. The victim was one of a number of neighbours and relatives who had gathered at a farm in order to secure the roof of a storm-damaged cattle shed. The statement said it appeared that the man fell from the bucket of a telescopic loading machine that he had been using to gain access to the roof. The accident is believed to have taken place in Kilgarriffe, near Clonakilty.

A second man was also killed while carrying out storm repairs over the weekend in Wicklow after falling while attempting to repair a damaged roof.
