First Indiependence acts announced

Music fans in Cork have been given an early birthday present this morning with the first acts announced for the 2018 Indiependence Music and Arts Festival.

Next year’s festival at Deer Farm in Mitchelstown will feature some major Irish acts including Walking on Cars, Le Galaxie, King Kong Company, HamsandwicH, The Blizzards, Le Boom, Wild Youth and 1000 Beasts.

The Irish contingent will be joined by a host of UK artists, with Jake Bugg, Mercury Prize nominees Everything Everything, Britpop legends Cast and one of the UK’s hottest rising stars Tom Grennan all set to feature at INDIE18.

The festival will also feature artists with strong Ministry of Sound ties with debuts from Sigala and Mylo.

All early bird tickets have already sold out for the festival, with three-day camping tickets now on sale for €139 and VIP Indie Garden tickets on sale for €179 from

“We will be announcing a lot more acts in 2018,” said organiser Shane Dunne, “but we wanted to give Indie fans something to look forward to before Christmas. Thanks to everyone who has bought tickets so far and we look forward to sharing some really big names with you in the New Year.”

Since the first festival in 2006, Indiependence has featured international acts like Basement Jaxx, Public Enemy, De La Soul and Editors playing alongside many high profile names in Irish music.
