Hospital visiting hours restrictions continue

Wednesday, 17th January, 2018 5:13pm

Hospital visiting restrictions remained in place for Cork hospitals yesterday due to patients presenting with flu-like symptoms.

The number of patients was such that Bantry General Hospital placed a ban on visitors yesterday with the exception of critically ill patients, who are restricted to one visitor and confined to visiting times only.

The elderly, children, pregnant women or young adults, those with chronic illnesses or vulnerable others are advised not to visit. Outpatient, day care services and routine hospital admissions are not affected.

Bantry Hospital advised that potential lifting of restrictions was being monitored on a daily basis.

Visiting restrictions also continued in CUH yesterday due to the number of inpatients with flu and norovirus (the winter vomiting bug).

There are currently 17 CUH inpatients who have tested positive for the flu, with a further seven inpatients being analysed.

There are five inpatients with norovirus across the hospital.
