Laya making Cork Spectacular!

Wednesday, 6th June, 2018 3:46pm

Get your summer plans ready, the countdown is on for Ireland's biggest free summer festival!

Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular returns to Cork’s Fitzgerald Park on from 14-15 July and Dublin’s Merrion Square from 6-8 July.

Over 265,000 festival-goers are expected to attend the free family festivals and enjoy the best in international street performance, interactive family activations and workshops, delicious street food and more.

With only weeks to go, take a look at the top free things to do at Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular:

First up are the spectacular world class street performers; gentleman juggler Mat Ricard, Boston B-Boy Snap Boogie, Sara Twister, The Piano Juggler and Madame Guillotine, who will be putting audiences through their paces.

Festival-goers will also come face to face with the world’s leading living statue artists including JOHNman, who will perform two of his characters WOODY WOODman, a wooden character carving himself out of tree-trunk, and Candy Man, the artificial Candyman brought to life.

Bringing their 80s NYC street party vibe will be Limerick-based art collective Limerockers Cru. Kids and parents can learn to breakdance, drop some beats and learn how to ‘wildstyle tag’ graffiti.

New to the 2018 festival is the Laya ‘It’s Good to Live’ stage, where kids and their parents can dance, drum and jump in on family health and wellness classes.

Another new feature is the children’s play area ‘Lil Laya Ville, where kids transform into mini-chefs, and the return of the Kids Court will see children putting their parents on trial - sentencing them to a custard-pie-in-the-face or a bucket of iced water!

Explore over 15 different world cuisines at Just Eat Street in Fitzgerald’s Park, where you can chill in the sunshine while the Just Eat waiter takes and delivers food orders.

Finally, charity partner the DSPCA will be on hand with dog training and dog agility demonstrations, as well as providing pet health advice. Entry to Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular is free. For the full programme of activities check out
