Top-up your tan!
Ice cream parlours aren’t the only business to see sales soar with the hot temperatures.
Sales of fake tan have soared by almost 50 per cent, showing the Irish always want to hedge their bets!
In a report from CarePlus Pharmacy, it also reports a whopping 147 per cent increase in sales of sunscreen since the current heatwave hit. Each of its community pharmacists also noted a marked increase in the number of customers seeking help after suffering sunburn.
Forecasters say the weather is expected to continue warm and sunny for the foreseeable future.
Micheál McVann, CarePlus pharmacist, said: “We have noticed a real surge in demand for high factor products, such as SPF 30 or 50, which means that most people are getting the message.
“Sun cream should be applied regularly, with a minimum of SPF 30, and allowed to dry for 20 minutes before exposure to the sun,” he said.
