Engage in family fun day

Wednesday, 18th July, 2018 5:11pm

Families will be scrumming together this weekend as a rugby club is hosting a fun day out.

Ballincollig Rugby Club will also use the day to unveil exciting new development plans.

The event, which kicks off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon in Tanner Park, will include bouncing castles and games for the kids followed by some live music and a bbq for all to enjoy.

Marking the club’s 40th anniversary, the event will help to raise the vital funds needed for the development project which the cub says will cost close to €945,000.

The development aims to improve existing playing facilities, solve draining and flooding issues, install flood lighting and to build an all-weather pitch and running track.

Club President Jim Nyhan said: “These plans will enable us to meet the growing demand for evening matches and training under lights and will allow the club to train all season, ensuring the continued success of our club now, and into the future for new generations. We are very much at the heart of the community and we want to keep providing the best possible facilities and service to everyone, which we feel can only be done by improving the facilities we offer," he added.
