Man arrested after South Mall robbery

A man in his 20s has been arrested after a robbery in the city centre early this morning.

Gardaí made the arrest after a man called to Anglesea Street Garda Station shortly after 4am this morning and alleged that he had been assaulted and robbed at South Mall.

A small amount of cash was taken in the robbery, and the man was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries.

Gardaí sealed off the scene at South Mall to facilitate an examination, making the arrest in a follow-up operation. The man is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Bridewell Street Garda Station.
