New DAB station for Cork city

Wednesday, 5th December, 2018 4:55pm

The team behind Juice FM has tuned into a new way of broadcasting.

The Cork Education and Training Board’s (CETB) radio station based at CSN College of Further Education has launched the new digital platform DAB (digital audio broadcasting).

The introduction of DAB marked an exciting progression for the college-based radio station, as they are the first in Cork city to launch on the platform and the first educational institution in Ireland to do so.

Student broadcasters include Sean Ryan, Leon Mukerjee, Emmet Dunlea, Chris Geary, Cian McGuane, David Sheehan, and Stephen Murphy.

Although new to Ireland, DAB is listened to by over 60 per cent of the UK population.

DAB radios can also now be purchased by listeners and these are currently widely available in electrical shops all over Cork.

This new launch improves accessibility for the student-run radio station, which will be available on DAB, online and mobile apps 24/7 as well as on FM 88.7 across Cork from October to April, Tuesdays through Thursdays.
