BERNARD'S THE BOY We'll be keeping an eye on Bernard Allen. The FG poll topper at last got something to chew on -chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, worth Û20,000. The committee investigates government waste of money -at a distance of two years.
THREE CHEERS Congrats to the Cork based Reddy O'Riordan Staehli architects who swept the boards for their work on the Cork University Hospital. They won a prestigious international prize for their design. Question is: how is it that Cork's prize winning architects have all been engaged in public works? You never see Owen O'Callaghan's architects, or the many others presently slapping up their private enterprise glass box structures in the city centre, winning anything. ALLAH BE PRAISED Last week the slanty heads in Trinity College invited an Islamic extremist to tell them about the joys of the fatwa. He was Anjem Choudary, who demands that the flag of Islam be flown over Leinster House. Now, we're sure that most of the Allah fans who live in Ireland are a decent bunch who wouldn't harm a fly; not at all like the gougers who want to conceal the missus in a veil and have her submissive to the will of God, and a man. Indeed, so popular is their zany religion in this country that there are as many applicants for Islamic schools as applicants for Catholic schools.
