And before people start to freak-out at me let me say I am not talking about all people but an ever increasing amount who are also adding to the inflamed amount of anti-social behaviour, bullying and downright thuggery that is on the increase in our cities housing estates.

Small consolation to the law fearing, hardworking, bill payment, cash strapped section of the community who are the total mugs for getting up and going out to work each day.

Love letters

It made me laugh during the week when I heard about politicians being threatened by letters in the post.

The post? you'd be lucky if they ever eve open it. More likely they'd say "I never got it", or "it was dealt with by an official in my department". Its impossible to even contemplate how to go about threatening a politician these days, they are so thin on the ground as I found to my own amazement when I tried to track down any sitting Cork Fianna Fail TD.

They can't all be out of the country. I know they only sat in Dail Eireann for 63 days last year, but some one of them at least must answer their phones. They all can't dislike me, can they? Am I the only one or does anyone else get the impression that this country is a rudderless ship and heading for the Bermuda triangle?

Apart from the crowd

I have a buddy with a few girls in and around their teenage years so that makes her a bit of an authority in this area.

Last week we were talking about teenage disco's when she told me that there is a sort of an unwritten rule that girls have to wear skirts to disco's. Jeans or trousers at a disco today for young teenagers would be a no-no so that's why you have girls who wear nothing but track suits and jeans 99% of the time donning a skirt for the disco and banishing it to the back of the wardrobe thereafter.

Sadly some young girls who feel they don't have the figure or legs for skirts are staying away from the disco's completely. Isn't that sad beyond belief? While on the one hand women have come so far and on the other hand they are still back in the dark ages with this sexist stereotyping that sets in at such an early age.

I am not talking about the unsuitability of skirts now in any way other than the pressure to wear one.

Show me the young girl who will go to the disco in a pair of jeans for no other reason in that she refuses to be brow beaten or refuses to be a sheep and I will show you a potential leader!
