A real looker

The Dublin driven national media is telling us that Brian Cowen needs a make over.  They’re used to Bertie with his foundation, powder, lip gloss and mascara.

They don’t like Brian on the basis that he’s an alpha male (the dominant type, who is always the leader and always in control and more concerned about getting things done than how he looks).

I have been reading in the national papers that Cowen is dishevelled, that he needs to loose a bit of weight and change his appearance, if he wants to become more statesman-like.  By that they mean he needs to wear designer clothes and start slapping on make up.

I don’t know much about Brian Cowen, he is still in the honeymoon period so the jury will remain out for the next couple of months. But I do know that the economy needs a make over and not the man who is driving it.

Our hospitals, schools, roads, employment structures all need a make over a lot more so than Cowen.

While Brian has been labelled an Alpha Male  in the media there is another type called the Omega Man, and he’s the subservient type, mellow and just goes with the flow but romantic and is unafraid to express his feelings (even if it means wearing loads of make up and a yellow jacket).

Bertie never wanted to upset anyone, he was everyone’s friend, he courted the media to the point that he could almost control them, he could almost cry on cue and was an expert baby kisser. Some reports leaked from Fianna Fáil are suggesting that Cowen’s style of leadership is dictatorial and aggressive, another sign of the so called alpha male and the lads who’re used to sitting around the cabinet table with accommodating Bertie, at least to their face, are finding the going a bit tougher with Biffo.

Cowen might be tough, he might be demanding, dictatorial or even a bit aggressive, but I would imagine what you see is what you get with him.

I don’t see him going down the road of the Versace suits and the Armani haircuts to pander to the D4 media.

This man has surrounded himself with a cabinet primarily from outside Dublin and I think it’ll be his way or the high way and let’s hope the only make over he is planning is one for this country, which was left in a bit of mess by the beautiful Bertie, the darling of the Dublin press.
