A piece of your mind

I am seeing way too many signs on front doors these days saying "No Canvassers" or "No Fianna Fail candidates"… take em down and open the door. If it's Fianna Fail calling give them a piece of your mind. Tell them how sick to death you are of their cronyism, jobs for the boys, sick of them lining the pockets of their developer friends, disgusted at the way the ruined the economy for us and our children by sheer ignorance and laziness.

Ask them why not one single person was ever held accountable for the fraudulent and reckless behaviour of the banking sector, why they won't help the pension sector, the old age pensioners, the self employed, and why in all honesty they could run for local election under the banner of such a disgraceful party and Government.

Ask them why TD's salaries and councillors expenses are so high, why there are so many of them, why we have a senate. Why Ä75 million was collected in Cork on motor tax in the last year but yet not a brown cent was spent on Cork roads? That should get you going. Add your own questions but it's a bit of a shame to bar them from the house! That's just like not voting. By you not voting the big parties get back in, because the die hard political factions always vote for their man or woman.

No equity

It seems to me that there is no equity across our Court systems. Why would one person get banned from driving for killing someone and another get a seven year sentence? Has it anything to do with a person's background? In the former case an ex Irish rugby player, in the other an Eastern European? Or is it just down to the judge you pull, or the cuteness of your defence team.

It seems bizarre to me that a "suspended" sentence could be handed down to somebody who is nearly three times the legal alcohol limit, staggering on his feet, and smashing into the back of a car killing a 16 year old lad. I don't get "suspended" sentences, either it's a sentence or its not, it's a bit like being "kinda dead". Either you are or you are not.

The Walsh family are livid, I have spoken to them and rightly so. I don't know Eddie Halvey and I wish him no ill will, but far too often now Irish courts allow one man walk relatively free and another goes down, all to often depending on their social background where they come from or how much of a defence they can afford.
