Private art collection sold in Dublin for €2.53 million

A rediscovered art collection owned by the late Cork obstetrician Dr JB Kearney sold in Dublin this week for €2.53 million, €1 million more then pre-sale estimates.

Cork lobby group call for legislation on abortion

A Cork lobby group is calling on the government to introduce legislation on abortion in Ireland.  At a recent event held by the Cork Women’s Right to Choose group, members of the group said the time had come for government to face up to the job of legalising abortion in the country.

Following a lead story in last week's Cork Independent, this newspaper his now learned that women in Cork are being informed they will have to wait until 2010 for mammograms, a year later than was previously thought.
