Cork v Galway in Allianz NFL Saturday Pairc Ui Rinn @ 7.30 pm

Cork will bid to make it three out of three when they welcome Joe Kernan's men to Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday and in the process will be striving to maintain their impressive record under the lights. Galway's campaign got off to an inauspicious start, a heavy defeat by old rivals Mayo, but they did hit back with a win over Monaghan and will travel south keen to stay in the hunt for a place in the final, where as another loss could see them dragged into a relegation battle.

New Cork City manager Tommy Dunne has admitted that it is touch and go whether the new League of Ireland club on Leeside, Cork City FORAS Co-Op, will be able to field a team in the Airtricity First Division game against Derry City tomorrow (Friday) night.

BEFORE tip-off there was a lot riding on this game for both teams in the battle for placings in the Nivea for Men SuperLeague. Demons hit the court running soaring into a 22 to 6 lead early on. Saints' Eoin Quill led his side's comeback and they rallied to narrow the gap to 26-16 at the end of the first quarter.

Munster near knockout stages

Second-half tries from skipper Peter O'Mahony and centre Tom Gleeson saw Munster come from 12 points down at the interval to run out 21-12 winners against Neath in the British & Irish Cup at The Gnoll last weekend. Munster were forced to re-jig their starting lineup when sickness forced Dave Foley to withdraw close to the game.

 
Cork easy winners over Kingdom

Defending champions Cork collected their first Bord Gáis Energy Ladies National Football League victory of the season at the expense of Munster rivals Kerry on Sunday. Cork ran out 1-16 to 1-9 winners against the Kingdom but the visitors put up a spirited display and trailed by just two points at half-time.

In an exciting ODM Munster Senior Cup tie at Rosbrien on Sunday UCC booked their place in the final with a 21-16 win over Shannon. The sides were level 11-11 each at half time with Luke O'Dee scoring a try for Shannon and Mossie Lawlor kicking two penalties.

 
Marathon route changes for the better

With many competitors already in training ahead of this June’s Bord Gais Energy Cork City Marathon Cork, it has emerged that the course will be changed this year. It is hoped this will be change for the good as the organizers are changing the race course in 2010, taking out the punishing hills to make it flatter and more enjoyable for all those taking part.

With this weekend's Sigerson Cup finals on the horizon, UCC received a boost when Paul Honohan received a Cadbury Football Scholarship last week. The Cadbury Football Scholarships are awarded in recognition of the sporting potential of U-21 footballers attending various universities in Ireland.
