Hello punters!
In the trauma-filled history of the Grand National, surely one of the most remarkable and puzzling races for the Aintree spectacular took place in 1956, when the Queen Mother's Devon Loch inexplicably came to grief on the flat, having jumped every one of the thirty giant fences, within sight of that elusive winning post, when well clear of the field, and with the race, to all intents and purposes, in his pocket.

This time last week I was moving serenely along the river Nile. In my humble opinion there is very little in the world of travel that can compare with a river cruise and the majestic Nile unquestionably provides one the most fascinating journeys available anywhere across the globe. It is the conduit that has provided the population of Egypt with food, and its distribution, for thousands of years and while the infrastructure of the country is now based on more modern means of transport and movement, the river is still the very pulse of the country.
