In writing this piece on Monday afternoon I do not know which countries will be contesting the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final in Soccer City, Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.
It would be senseless for me to even attempt try and gauge which teams will be victorious on Tuesday and Wednesday as if there is one sure thing I have learned from this particular tournament it is that surprises have been constant.

Hello punters!
To move away from the horses for a paragraph or two, but remaining on 'track', I did come across a ground-breaking record over the weekend that certainly deserves more than a mention. This happened on the greyhound track, and was accomplished through sheer perseverance, and more than a little knowledge as to what greyhound racing is all about, especially where the placing of a dog in the right race is concerned.

Five first-half goals paved the way for Cork's victory in Saturday's final, leading 5-8 to 1-06, and game was effectively over as a contest.
