Warriors provide final test for Munster

With the countdown to Cardiff now well underway, Munster will conclude their domestic league duties with a home game against Glasgow Warriors at Musgrave Park on Saturday evening.

As the title is now beyond them, Leinster having scooped the prize during a six-try demolition of the Newport/Gwent Dragons last weekend, Declan Kidney's side will be anxious to put pressure on snatching second-place from the Cardiff Blues. With one or two final issues also to be ironed out, it's a last chance for some players to cement their place in the Heineken Cup Final match-day 22.

Constant speculation surrounding the impending announcement of Kidney as the next Irish coach has been acting as a convenient distraction from the intense hype which is sure to envelope the squad over the coming weeks.

Toulouse clash

The clash with Toulouse is now a little over two weeks away and with that in mind, Kidney has one final opportunity to assess his squad ahead of some crucial decisions. Following his inspired display against Gloucester in the quarter-final, Tomas O'Leary appeared to have ousted long-time servant Peter Stringer from the scrum-half position.

However a less than convincing display in the semi-final, coupled with some wayward kicking and poor decision making has put O'Leary back in the selection spotlight. It will be an extremely difficult decision for the coach to make. Stringer's experience at this level could be crucial, with the Corkman having started each of the last three European Cup finals.

However, O'Leary's unpredictability from the base of the ruck, together with his searing pace makes him a slight favourite to land the role. Both players should be given ample opportunity this weekend against the Warriors in order to stake a claim.
