The first round of the women’s ESB Irish Senior Cup takes place on Saturday and should have seen four Cork clubs in action. Two of those Ashton and Bandon have each received a walk-over into the second round. Priorians were due to travel to Ashton with Cookstown visiting Bandon, however, both northern clubs have withdrawn from the competition. Belvedere have also withdrawn from the competition conceding their match to Omagh.
The only Cork club now involved in first round match is University College Cork who play University of Limerick at the Mardyke, hit off 1.00pm. Another Limerick club in the first round is Catholic Institute who play Belfast Harlequins at Rosbrien, hit off 2.30pm.
The other Cork clubs in the competition, Cork Harlequins and Cork Church of Ireland, have received byes into the third round along with Pegasus, Ballymoney, Randalstown, Hermes, Loreto and Old Alexandra.
