City head to Europe

Wednesday, 28th June, 2017 4:42pm

City travelled to Estonia this week, where they will play the first leg of their Europa League clash tonight.

The Leesiders face FC Levadia Tallinn, who are currently second place in the top tier of the league in Estonia. They have not lost a match to-date this season in the league, but have drawn four of their 17 matches.

Ahead of Thursday’s game, City this week announced that the club had signed Sean McLoughlin from UCC. The defender previously played with the club at underage level, while City beat off competition from England and Scotland to secure McLoughlin’s signature.

“He can play left back, or left centre back, and he is very good on the ball. He is a guy who has come through UCC, who have done very well over the last few years. It is a big step up but he has done well in training. He is getting used to it and we see him as player who can step up to the mark very quickly, so we have high hopes for him.”
