Next step in beauty at a budget

Last week I took you through a range of products that were under €10, this week we are increasing the budget but keeping it super affordable. Under €20 is still pharmacy price range and quite often they have offers with 3-for-2 or reduced prices.

Skincare is something that you should be spending over a tenner on in any case, particularly if you have sensitive skin. For foundation, you have a few options.

The bloggers' favourite seems to be L’Oreal True Match which offers nice even coverage and won’t leave tide marks on your face. At €13.99 and with 23 shades, it is inexpensive and won’t wear away. It never looks cakey and won’t sit in fine lines.

For a more buildable matte coverage NYX Professional Makeup, from sheer to full, an ideal coverage is just drops away with NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation. To fine-tune this velvety, matte foundation with the included dropper, simply adjust the number of drops until you create the look you’re feeling.

If you want more coverage with some parts of your face requiring a little more vava voom, then add more drops! Buff expertly using the NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drop foundation brush for a seriously smooth finish. Total Control Drop Foundation comes in 24 shades and is €18.50.

For anyone that loves a BB cream, Note Cosmetics BB cream has just the right amount of coverage for a daytime look. You don’t need a lot of product as a little goes a long way. It gives nice luminosity and is only €11.95.

Blush Makeup Rose Gold Blush is a luxurious, highly pigmented, baked powder blush. The silky smooth, blendable powder adds instant colour and radiance to cheeks and is €18 and available at blush.ie.

Maybelline New York Eye Eraser is still one of my all-time used concealers; it contains just the right amount of illumination and cover to hide bags and dark circles without giving you the reverse racoon look that a lot of illuminating concealers can give you. It’s suitable for all ages and skin types and won’t sit in your crow’s feet and is a steal at €11.99, finally we have the shades to brighten and neutralise which previously were only available in the US.

For very high coverage, Vichy Dermablend, €17.50, is a long-lasting SOS cover stick for medium to severe skin conditions, such as spots, acne marks, dark circles, scars, rosacea, vitiligo, tattoos or hyperpigmentation. Because it is suitable for some conditions that make your skin more photosensitive, it contains an SPF25.

The Body Shop recently released a haircare range that you will go bananas for. The nourishing shampoo, €14.95, and conditioner, €9.95, use fairtrade bananas from Ecuador while there is an energising line containing ginger for dry flaky scalps. TheAvene Soothing Moisture Mask, €17.99 is specifically for dehydrated and weakened sensitive skin which has become reactive (redness, tightness and stinging) due to various aggressions. The soothing moisture mask is genuine pampering care for your skin. Very rich in Avene thermal spring water, this mask intensely releases all the water's soothing cooling properties. Roger and Galet Aura Mirabilis Extra-Fine Cleansing Mask, €20, is inspired by the virginal milk used to create marvellous skin and oil-based formulas that are known for their numerous skincare benefits and their makeup removing efficacy. This efficacy in removing makeup enables the mask to provide a double use – it can be used as a makeup remover or a detoxifying mask. The Extra-Fine Cleansing Mask is suitable and gentle enough for sun damaged sensitive skin to create a more even skin tone and it de-flakes and polishes.

Uriage Xémose Cérat Lipid Replenishing Anti-Irritations cream is suitable for face and body, €19.50. Boasting an ultra-rich texture, this product intensely nourishes, protects and instantly soothes itching that causes scratching due to dryness. Its formula which contains 25 per cent shea butter and it intensely nourishes and brings instant, long-lasting comfort.

All the above products are available online and in stores.

Next week I am going to talk about toners. All skin types can use a balancing product, especially if you live in an area where there is lime in the water.
