New season, new skincare regime

I love a good skincare product, and now that winter is here, it is kind of important that we still maintain the SPF protection. If your skin is mature it's particularly important to up the ante with the richness of our creams, particularly if you are outdoorsy or spend a lot of time walking or running.

I am always preaching that SPF is, without a doubt, one of the best anti-aging products you can use, but you must combine this with a good regime. New to the market from Janssen is its Skin Refining Enzyme Peel (€45), this clear and gentle liquid enzyme peeling gel is the ideal way to prepare the skin for a thorough care routine as the formula is packed with active ingredients.

Through the gentle removal of uneven dead skin cells, the skin’s surface becomes smoothed out, without mechanical (scrub particles) irritation. It is based on the enzyme subtilisin, obtained through biotechnology. Through the special patented procedure, the enzymes are stabilised and only become active upon application to the skin. They loosen the material that binds dead skin cells and stimulate cell regeneration. The result is a noticeably smoother skin texture and a refreshed, even appearance.

Night time is regeneration time for the skin and that is why high-end products invariably come with a day and night time product. Janssen Cosmetics Night Recovery Serum (€65) is a light, easily-absorbed serum which is applied under your night cream. Thanks to the high-performing active ingredients of the cellular regeneration complex, this regenerating anti-aging serum supports the skin’s overnight repair mechanism.

Extract of acacia silk promotes the visible reduction of signs of tiredness. Short and long-chain hyaluronic acids offer intensive moisture and stem cells from the alpine rose plant strengthen the skin’s barrier. The skincare concentrate, combats diverse signs of aging throughout the night and presents visibly better skin by morning. There are many other additions to this range, including a cleanser, toner and day and night creams.

For your daytime routine, Eminence Smart Collagen Complex is winning for me. Two brand-new to the market products, a Marine Flower Peptide serum and a Marine Flower Peptide eye cream, both deliver a more radiant and youthful skin complexion. Radiance is never something that we associate with winter but care for your skin and you can be permanently glowing. Proven to visibly lift and firm wrinkles, the smart collagen complex contains active plant and algae to boost production and offer a significantly smoother, plumper look. The serum is a beautiful gel texture that is light yet effective and will work under your regular moisturiser.

The eye cream is versatile and ultra-rich, any leftovers should be used around the mouth. It is especially good for tired hard-working eyes like mine which are glued rather permanently to a laptop.

As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month many brands have charitable associations and one such brand in Yonka. Pink October sees the company donate €1 from every purchase of Yonka Pamplemousse, Nutridefense and Phyto 58.

A real boost of energy, this light, luscious cream with an invigorating citrus scent, lights up the complexion and vitalizes the epidermis. The version for normal to oily skin, with a higher concentration of fruit, tightens the pores.

Yonka Nutridefense has a nutritious formula, is rich in essential fatty acids (omega 3, 6, 9, and more) and this smooth cream brings immediate and long-lasting comfort to undernourished skin. Enriched with hydrating agents and antioxidants, it helps skin combat premature signs of aging. The sensations of tightness and irritation are soothed as time goes by.

Phyto 58 is a refined and fast-absorbing cream that is rich in phyto-stimulating rosemary extracts and is supreme in revitalizing the epidermis. It erases the signs of fatigue, refines skin texture, evens tone, and brightens the complexion.
