Ready for all that jazz?

Once again Cork city ignites with vibrant visitors from all over the world as we head into the jazz weekend!

Some of the best nights and afternoons out are to be had this weekend with glitter, statement lips and bold makeup being par for the course. Lashes need to be luscious too, of course, and glam is the name of the game.

It is, of course, a busy time for bars and restaurants too, so bring a compact mirror in your handbag for touch-ups. Let’s look at creating a base that is long-lasting first, as you won’t want to powder your nose all day, especially of you are socialising.

Start with a good foundation like Mac Studio Fix. Apply it with a brush to ensure even coverage or you could try the Silicone Blender, the siliciabase blending sponge which looks a little bit like a mini bra pad but works beautifully at patting foundation and concealer into the skin. Retailing at €10, it is easy to clean and gives a flawless finish without the worries of bacteria like some beauty sponges.

For a wow red lip, look no further than the latest innovative lipstick from L.O.V that promises to give you the ultimate pout.

FATALmuse Liquid Matte Lipstick has a mousse texture with intensive colour pigment which leaves a semi-matte finish on the lips. It has a long-lasting formula with cottonseed oil which ensures a beautiful smile with smooth and supple lips.

The lipstick is available in ten different shades from nude to dark berry colours, so you are guaranteed to find one that matches your jazzy mood. Retailing at €8.99, you can afford more than one.

High pigments is what i-Divine palettes by Sleek are known for and the Diamond Decade palette is no different. The intense formula is designed to stay on throughout the day and you are guaranteed to remain fierce all night too. Priced at €10.99 from Boots, it contains an array of pinks and charcoals to keep your look sexy and sultry.

Then of course the only thing left to do is find your perfect lashes. Kiss, available in Penney’s, has the best selection, whether you favour a full on opulent look or you feel like a flirty light set. They retail at €3.50 which includes the glue also.

For a precise liner, try Blank Canvas Winging It liquid liner (€8.99). Eyeliner can enhance your natural eye shape with a simple line created along your lash line.

It's an ideal way to define your eyes and it can be used on its own or to add the finishing touches to an eye look. Follow the natural shape of your eye for the best results.

And finally, 29 October is World Psoriasis Day. Psoriasis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory skin disease that is estimated to affect more than 73,000 people in Ireland.

Around the world over 125 million people are affected by this disorder. Psoriasis is not contagious, infectious or the result of poor hygiene.

Psoriasis is a skin disorder which results in an increase in the rate of production and shedding by skin cells. This is a chronic and inflammatory disorder that can vary in severity from person to person and in the same person at various stages.

I suffer with it and find it is kept under control by keeping hydrated. The Uriage Dermatological ranges are formulated with unique patented ingredient complexes developed for specific skin conditions.

Uriage XEMOSE is a treatment for anyone with psoriasis or severe dryness, and the linked symptoms: irritation, scaly skin, inflammation, itchiness. This highly effective thermal water range is available in Minihan's Chemist and will really help with the itch cycle.

La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm is great for adults and kids. This award-winning moisturising balm is adored by people who suffer from very dry skin that’s prone to itchiness.
