Peel and reveal - no need to scrub

Wednesday, 26th September, 2018 4:27pm

Let’s think back to that ever so famous episode of 'Sex and the City' where Samantha arrived home red-faced and out of action for a week post-chemical peel.

Well, we have come a long way from the possibility of that scenario, both in the salon and at home, thankfully. In-salon or medical grade chemical peels can still require some downtime. If you find that concept unappealing, (sorry for the pun) then why not consider something you can use at home? They can help brighten and reveal clearer skin and work on things like pores and fine lines without the need to do the whole in-salon rigmarole.

Monu skincare is a range that is used both in the salon and at home. The resurface and peel homecare system is a simple addition to your skincare regime that will allow you to maintain immaculate skin in between professional treatments. Tackling a variety of skin concerns from acne, scarring, pigmentation and age spots, to reducing wrinkle depth and increasing cell renewal, this home care kit promises to completely overhaul the complexion to leave you looking and feeling radiant and vitalised.

This home peel kit has been designed to improve current courses of treatment being undertaken or can be used on its own to reveal instantly more youthful skin. It contains one resurface and peel paste, one ten per cent resurface and peel lotion, one hydrating moisturiser and one fan brush to apply the lotion.

Many of the regular readers here will know that I am a fan of the Skinceuticals range and when I got to try the Glycolic 10 Overnight Treatment, I was suitably impressed. Sometimes overnight treatments like this can be patchy and dry. SkinCeuticals Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight is a comprehensive treatment containing a generous ten per cent concentration of glycolic acid, created to deliver a true free acid value of ten per cent in a 3.5 pH formula, which is perfect for overnight use. Due to its low pH, the exfoliating ingredient can work better and remain potent for longer, delivering noticeable improvements in the overall tone and texture of the skin in a matter of weeks.

Added phytic acid brightens dullness while a Specialist Soothing Complex prevents inflammation and supports the skin barrier to minimise dry patches. Over time, skin looks more radiant and youthful. You build up tolerance for the product, so I started using it initially once per week and then gradually increased it.

Dermalogica has launched a new Rapid Reveal Peel, an innovative ten part system dedicated to retexturising the skin and creating a brighter, more radiant complexion. When we’re young, our skin sheds and replenishes cells quickly to recover from damage we acquire through our lifestyle, habits and environmental exposure. But as we age, our cell turnover slows down, resulting in longer recovery time as well as amplification of dullness, fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration.

Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel (€90) is formulated to tackle these common signs of ageing at home. It kick-starts skin renewal for instant radiance, speeding removal of dull cells on the surface of your skin to reveal brighter, smoother, healthier-looking skin. This enhanced cell renewal helps make up for what the skin naturally loses over time. Best of all, there’s no downtime to the skin!

This convenient, at-home peel is the highest-strength retail exfoliant offered by the skin health experts at Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute.

A kick-start phase is recommended for those who are looking to achieve accelerated results. Start by using one tube of Rapid Reveal Peel every day for three days. After the third day, transition to using one Rapid Reveal Peel tube every week.
