Bright eyed and bushy tailed!

Autumn is here so it's time to update your makeup collection with a few key seasonal bits.

First up is Urban Decay's Naked Cherry Palette. When I saw this initially online, I wasn’t sure that I would love the tones as they looked quite cool, and because of the name, I thought it sounded like it would be like all pinks which I don’t find flattering.

How wrong was I? Deep mauves and sexy matte plums is what this palette comprises of, with some ultra-glam shimmery shades. All are ultra-wearable, this palette is a make-up artist's essential buy for bridal looks.

I tried and loved the shade Feelz which I blended through with the soft matte Juicy, which is a flattering peach colour. I then used the colour Caution on my lower lash line to smoke out this look and it blended so well. There is something really satisfying about having colours that work well day and night and I can see me reaching for this quite a lot during the jazz weekend and Christmas for some full on glam.

Keeping on the Urban Decay theme, the Naked foundation has really made a big difference to my skin. As I have aged, I have realised that I am too old for heavier matte finishes and the Naked Skin foundation gives my skin an airbrush effect, especially if you have dry or mature skin. You can build it up and finish with powder if you prefer a less bare skinned look.

Try the 24/7 liners too which come in all colours; I adore the buttery texture that doesn’t drag on the waterline. That is important as dragging the eye area distorts the application and can result in panda eyes. Sometimes it is worth spending a little more to see a softer result. All are available in Debenhams.

Mascaras I have been trialing lately are by pharmacy brand Note. Note Real Look Mascara (€11.95) curls, thickens, lengthens and volumises your eyelashes in a single stroke. It contains vitamin E to nourish and moisturise the eyelash roots. The brush makes the lashes fluffy and it’s a more traditional style brush, great if you don’t like rubber wands.

I also tested Mavala Double Lash, a nutritive treatment for eyelashes and eyebrows, helping to reinforce them and prevent their loss. The result is longer, denser, silkier lashes.

So with that in mind, the party season ahead should see us all looking more bright eyed and bushy tailed!
