So Last Season

Henchester awaits!

Wednesday, 4th October, 2017 5:51pm

I’m currently trying to pack for my fourth and final hen party at the weekend which will be in Manchester, aka 'Henchester' and while I hate packing in general, it has been made even harder by the fact that I haven’t a clue what we will be doing.

I’m pretty much guessing that it will involve a reasonably glam night out and some kind of daytime activity as I have specifically requested that we do zero outdoor events which require me to exert any kind of physical energy.

I want a cocktail to be placed in my hand the minute I touch down in Manchester and for one to remain there throughout the weekend, which I feel is a very low maintenance request to have on one's hen party.

Of course, packing is never made easy by the prohibitive airport regulations and especially now that I can only bring one bag. When I’m stuck for space, I generally tend to bring dresses with me as I feel like they take up less space than trousers or jeans and I might throw a few pairs of tights in the case, but I’m also thinking this might be my last weekend of bare legs before the derniers make a return to my wardrobe.

I’m also not going to wear anything white, as it’s probably safe to say Team Bridesmaid haven’t organised an impromtu white party for me, but I’m pretty sure some kind of novelty head band or sash will make an appearance.

For day wear, I’m pretty happy to go with some printed day dresses and I picked up a really flattering winter floral dress in Heatons over the weekend that I’ll wear with a black velvet jacket with embellishment, which was a total bargain, also in Heatons. I always find one or two nice pieces in here when I pop in.

Also does anyone else have to wear a new outfit for travelling and buy new underwear for holidays or is that just me? I know it’s holiday time when I’ve got my box fresh outfit on and this is why I generally tend to look my absolute best at the airport and will look varying degrees worse as my holiday progresses.

My main problem is what to wear on a night out, especially when everyone refuses to tell you where you’re going, and when you don’t know the dress code.

I’ve been to Manchester once before, many moons ago, and it seems pretty glam and glossy, so I’m trying to go more in that direction. It’s just so difficult when you hate wearing heels and you have to commit to an outfit days before you go out.

You know I’ve spoken many times before on how I pick what I’m going to wear for any event on the actual day, so you can imagine how much I’m fretting choosing something to wear five days in advance. I also need to be savvy with my footwear choices and have a day pair that go with everything.

For that, I’m thinking either a pair of ankle boots or my white Converse, which could be problematic if it’s raining, and for night, I need a pair of heels that will allow for maximum dancing potential.

Really, though, I need to just relax because I know I’ll be having so much fun I won’t care what I’m wearing. Hopefully I’ll be back next week in one piece to fill you in on our wild escapades.
