So Last Season

The big day has almost arrived!

Wednesday, 1st November, 2017 4:43pm

It’s my wedding week and I can’t quite believe it.

The two years and two months since we got engaged has absolutely flown by in a blur of wedding planning and prosecco. Just after you get engaged, so many people will tell you it’s a very stressful time, and while it hasn’t been without its moments, I must say on the whole I’ve really enjoyed planning it.

I suppose it was helped by the fact that a lot of my friends work in the wedding business, so I knew who to go to when it came to choosing my wedding vendors, so we avoided traipsing around to lots of wedding fairs.

I also pretty much avoided Pinterest and so many people I know nearly drove themselves crazy creating endless wedding boards - so much so that they had to take a lengthy break from it after their nuptials.

I did have a brief obsession with looking at wedding shoes on Instagram but I soon got over that when I realised one day that I had wasted three hours on an endless footwear scroll.

The most stressful part of the wedding was probably around the time we sent out the invites as it really hits home that the wedding is not far away and lots of jobs that had been put on the long finger were now rather pressing.

However, we got over this by putting together a comprehensive list and getting as much done as possible in a short space of time.

It’s quite hard when you are not living in the same county but it just meant our weekends were extra packed with wedding biz. One of the things I am looking forward to about having the wedding done and dusted is that we will now have weekends free to do non-wedding things and can enjoy a lie in without a to-do list running through my mind.

I must say though, the run up to the wedding especially the last two weeks or so are particularly lovely as people are just extra nice to you.

Of course, I’m dreading not being a bride to be and nobody wanting to drink prosecco at midday with me anymore!

I tried to have everything pretty much organised before this so that we could really just relax and enjoy ourselves, especially this week. While I sound smug about that, I’ll probably discover a major job that hasn’t been done the day before the wedding. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen though!

I finished up work on Friday and had a lovely day of brunch and bubbles followed by a gorgeous event in the interiors store Interiosity in Douglas with Dreaming Always and Pomco PR to launch their Christmas decoration collection.

I’m a big festive fan, so I was so excited to attend even though I managed to get lost in the cab on the way there as did the cab driver, who dropped me at Tesco all the while pretending it was St Patrick’s Woollen Mills.

I pathetically had to ring Rob and ask him to drop me a pin to the location. The furniture and decorations in Interiosity are so beautiful that the stress of the cab journey was soon forgotten especially when I was handed a hot gin as I walked through the door. I’m sure you’ll agree that was a thoroughly wonderful last day of work before I go off to get married!
