Riverview Vets’ appeal

Riverview Veterinary Group has launched its annual appeal for animals in need. It is seeking toys, food, treats, beds, fleece blankets, jumpers, coats and cleaning products to give to local animal charities. Donations can be dropped into the Riverview branch clinics in Ballincollig, Bandon or Carrigaline, before Tuesday 20 December.

Shandon celebration

Shandon Area History Group invites you to ‘A Cork Christmas’, a celebration in song, story and verse with the North Pres Players and special guest Liam Hutchinson. The event takes place on Wednesday 14 December at 7.30pm in Coffa House on Church St. The night is free but all donations go to the Simon Community.

Knockraha Macra

Knockraha Macra thanks its members past and present for attending its mass in Knockraha Church for deceased Macra members and its coffee morning in the local community hall. The group is looking forward to its 60th anniversary dinner dance on 17 March 2017 in the Midleton Park Hotel.

Winter fair

Midleton Educate Together School will have its winter fair on Saturday 10 December at the school from 1.30-4pm. There’ll be stalls, cakes, face painting, raffle and plenty more on the day.

Seandun Capers

The final of Capers, a 20-minute light entertainment competition, was held on recently at the Eire Og GAA grounds in Ovens. Performances on the night were from Whitechurch Macra, Kinsale, Glanmire and Carrigaline. Kinsale and Whitechurch were victorious and will now proceed to the next stage of the competition.

CPR training

There will be a free beginners CPR and AED (defibrillator) training session in Canon Packham Hall, St Luke’s School, Douglas on Tuesday 13 December from 6.45-8pm for beginners. There will be a session for people with experience from 8-9pm. All welcome.

Bravehearts concert

Bravehearts is a choir for those whose lives have been affected by cancer. The choir will hold a Christmas concert on Thursday 8 December in St Augustine’s Church on Washington St in the city at 7.30pm. The concert is free but all donations will go to Arc Cancer Support and the Bravehearts Choir.

Midleton fashion show

Midleton CBS Secondary School is hosting a Winter Wonderland Fashion Show and Christmas Market, in aid of the ASD Unit, on Thursday 8 December in the school hall. The event begins at 7pm and will include a mulled wine reception, raffle, spot prizes, a prize for the Best Dressed Lady and goody bags for the first 100 people. Tickets are €15 and are available from the school office on 021-4631555.
