Suicide awareness

The Patrick Hanley Youth Committee, Sinn Féin Republican Youth Cork (SFRY), are hosting a shave, wax or dye fundraiser tomorrow, Friday 26 May, from 7.30pm at the Deanrock Bar in Togher. All proceeds will go to Shine A Light, the local suicide awareness organisaton that offers low-cost counselling, to those in need, through Coiscéim counselling services. Members of SFRY, local Sinn Féin representatives and Donncadh O’Laoighre TD will be shaving, waxing and dyeing on the night to raise much needed funds for the organisation, which is reliant on donations. Entertainment on the night will be provided by the Highland Paddies.

Tickets are €5. Donations can also be made online through iDonate.

Golf classic

The Cork Association for Autism’s Fourth annual Golf Classic will take place in Mahon Golf Club on Thursday 22 June. Teams of three are being recruited at a cost of €150 and tee boxes are available to sponsor, by local businesses, for €100. The Blarney Street and surrounding areas Tidy Streets Group is organising a public clean-up on Saturday 27 May at 10am, starting at the Grotto on Blarney Road and walking to the Rock Community Centre. Cuppa and Cookie

Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI) launches A Cuppa & Cookie Morning to celebrate International Children’s Day on 1 June. Contact CHI for a fundraising pack, which includes tea and coffee, cookies and fundraising materials. All funds raised will help to provide arts and crafts materials, books and games, as well as helping with continuous training programmes for CHI volunteers. Contact, 01-2903510,

Céilí Mór

A fundraising Céilí Mór in aid of this year’s Munster Fleadh Cheoil will be held in St Finbarr’s GAA club on Saturday 10 June, with music by Taylor’s Cross.

Car Boot Sale

The Carrigaline & District Lions Club are holding a car boot sale on Sunday 28 May. All funds raised go to the Lions Youth Centre.

Edith Wilkins Foundation

Africa Day

Africa Day Cork 2017 will be held on Saturday 27 May in Fitzgerald Park from 12 - 6 pm. At this event Nasc will host a Cork Participate! stall. This will provide information about aspects of political and civic participation, including: applying for citizenship, registering to vote, volunteering, becoming active citizens, getting involved in community activities and more.

The Carrigaline Pioneer centre will hold a complimentary ‘Fun Table Quiz’ for all those who just joined the Pioneers. The Quiz be held on Thursday 8 June at 6.30pm in the Parish Centre at the back of the Church of Our Lady & St John. further Contact 087-9699488.

Climb to remember

The annual Climb to Remember takes place on Sunday 11 June. People from all over Munster will climb The Galtee Mountains, in memory of a loved one, with funds raised going towards The Mercy Hospital Foundation. Pre-event registration is essential, and participants can sign up at,registration fee: 25 euro.

A summer fete takes place in St Mary’s National School, Carrigaline, on Saturday 27 May, 10am-2pm.
