Oils are the next big thing in skincare. All companies are using them but the best way to use them depends on your skin type.

I have put some oil-based products through their paces in recent weeks and I must say that I am super impressed.

Firstly, the kitchen cupboard staple of coconut oil. This can be used as treatment for your hair and skin and is versatile for use when mixed with sugar as a skin scrub.

Declare, a Swiss brand that I think is the next best thing to Toblerone have launched a duo product called Power Duo, it's an oil and vitamin serum that help with fine lines and tone and texture of the skin. This product helps with anti-ageing and dehydration and is beautiful to use, especially at night time. The velvety texture melts into the skin and one pump delivers enough of this powerful product to so your face and neck. It is available in all good pharmacies. It is priced at €59.95.

Holos is a skincare company with a difference.   Set up by holistic practioncer Niamh, the anti-ageing face oil is one of the most versatile I have ever used. It adds glow and vitality to dry skin and can be used as a mask on dehydrated skin.

It contains the world famous Argan oil and really does what it says on the bottle.   Argan oil contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C as well as high Vitamin E and fatty acid content; making it excellent in protecting the skin from premature ageing. Both rose and benzoin reduce inflammation of the skin, rose helping to reduce the appearance of broken capillaries, as well as encouraging smooth skin. Frankincense and Palmerosa help to keep skin looking young by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. €22.00 is the price and it comes with a nice dropper bottle so you can even add it to your regular skincare creams if you want a boost.

For the hair, Joico restorative hair oil does the business. Lightweight enough for even my fine hair, a little goes a long way. I use it on the mid lengths and ends. Quadrabond Peptide Complex attacks and heals the damaged sites of the hair structure, while a trio of lush oils - argan, mankettie and evening primrose - provide moisture, strength, shine and softness.

You only need a few drops into damp hair ahead of styling or alternatively, allow you hair to dry naturally. It adds extra shine.

For a budget body oil, you cannot beat Garnier Ultimate Beauty Oil. A perfecting oil, it is five times more concentrated in nutrients than regular body lotion. Enriched with four precious oils - Argan, Macademia, Almond and Rose - its blissfully fragranced formula will visibly beautify your skin.

For a relaxing treat, try Waxperts beautifying oil. I put this through its paces post wax and used it pretty much for the whole month of January and February. It smells relaxing and contains lavender which makes it ideal to use both in the bath and on your skin afterwards. What appealed to me most about this particular one was that you could dress immediately after using it. Cheap and cheerful at €9.99,   I wouldn't pass this one - even if you don't wax.

The concept came about after the guys at Waxperts saw how much their clients loved the post wax oil, so they created this. The pump is handy for effective delivery on large areas like arms and legs. I am bringing a bottle on holidays too as lavender is a natural insect repellent.
