So last season

Wednesday, 12th August, 2015 7:29pm

Saturday was a pretty miserable day which consisted of me pottering around the house in pyjamas while trying to get some work done; all the while bemoaning the lack of sun and eating my own bodyweight in tasty treats made by my   mother.

It's these kinds of days where I could quite happily stay lounging on the couch for a solid 24 hours binging on Netflix box sets, but this Saturday I got up, got the glad rags on and headed to Perry St Market Café for the inaugural meeting of the Cloggers.

So you're probably wondering who or what a 'clogger' is?   Cloggers, or Cork Bloggers, is a group set up by Shell Fletcher of Shell La Belle and Marie Barry Murphy of The Beaut Mum with the aim of connecting all the fashion, beauty and lifestyle bloggers in Cork.

Shell set up the group "so that we could have events here in Cork and hopefully bring more PR events, launches etc here as Cork is such a great city for shopping, fashion, beauty and is full of quality bloggers.

"I always get invited to events but they are always in Dublin and I can never attend, so I set up a Cork bloggers group on Facebook and it went from there."

Shell and Marie met at another blogger group and when Shell suggested setting up the Cork Bloggers group Marie, who is also a busy mum-of-four, was on board immediately.   The girls shared passion for organising events, blogging and fashion has made them a team that works well together and the two have become great pals in the process.

Being a Cork blogger myself, it can seem like nothing else exists outside of the capital with many of the events and blogger meet-ups taking place in Dublin so I was delighted to be asked to join the group a little while back and meet up with like-minded blogging folk in the process.

So, you can see why I dragged my PJ-clad body off the couch on Saturday and went to the first Cloggers meet up.

When we arrived at Perry St we were treated to Prosecco and some delish canapés and even though I had spent most of the day scoffing, I still managed to wolf down some spiced beef and the most amazing strawberry and cream tarts that I've ever tasted.

We had a little bit of time to mingle and it was great to put a face to the name of all these other bloggers that I know in the realms of social media, but had never actually met in person.

We were then treated to demos from beauty brands Bia Beauty and Elizabeth Arden, as well as guest speaker Nathan Adams who got a lively discussion going on the trials and tribulations of social media.

Needless to say, I spent the night style spotting all the amazing outfits and marvelling at how perfect everyone's make-up was. With goodie bag brimming full of fashion and beauty treats in hand, I trotted off home eagerly awaiting the next Cloggers catch up.

If you're a Cork blogger interested in coming to the next event, then get in touch with the Cork Bloggers group on Facebook.
