Some pieces from the H&M Spring Statements Collection.

High street awash with colour

One of the things I love about spring is the reintroduction of colour into our wardrobes.

Yes, of course, we can still wear bright colours in winter which I often do but more often than not I find myself drawn to the darker side of my wardrobe.

However, once the new season arrives I am ready to break out some colour once again and refresh my look with some key colour pieces.

Colour to me is very personal and I don’t like to just wear colour because of a particular trend.

We are lucky this spring that bright, jewel tones and gauzy pastels are everywhere so whatever colour you like there’s something out there for you.

Wear your colours layered, tonal or mixed with vibrant prints for a maximalist vibe or just pick one key statement piece and add it to your neutrals. The choice is yours.

When it comes to colour you can simply ease yourself into it. While a bright statement dress might feel like too much to begin with, a coloured top, trousers or jacket is something you can easily add to the wardrobe.

Equally an outfit made up of neutrals can be given a completely new look by the addition of a simple coloured shoe or a great piece of jewellery. Also denim works so well when paired with colour and is a look we can all easily pull together out of our existing wardrobes. I love lighter denim, pastels and a metallic sandal for early summer while I tend to go for more jewel tones later in the season and both work well of course with denim.

The high street is awash with colour this season so if it’s something you’d like to experiment with you have loads of options available to you.

One collection that absolutely blew me away was the H&M Spring Statements Collection. Taking inspiration from beautiful bouquets of colourful flowers, the collection features striking brights and softer but no less striking pastel pieces.

The collection celebrates striking elegance, with layered and flowing silhouettes taking centre stage. The modest garments inspire confidence and authentically capture both laidback and luxury aesthetics.

This contemporary collection embodies the beauty of flowers, and each piece is as unique and expressive as its wearer. The occasionwear styles are perfect for any upcomin celebrations, to feel comfortable but look effortlessly cool.

Not only does the print feature florals but the silhouettes also give the suggestion of floral forms with undulating pleats, ruched hemlines, frills and bell sleeves. Accessories also play a huge part in personalising the pieces to your own taste with bright block colour heels, gold jewellery and gold chain belts.

The pieces are undoubtedly perfect for occasion wear but like most things in our wardrobe these days we want to make the most out of them and so they can be easily dressed down for more casual wear.

A simple pair of flat leather sandals and a beach bag would make any of these pieces perfect for a summer day or to pack in your case for holidays.

The collection will launch in two drops in selected H&M stores and at hm.com in March 2022.
