Driving Volvo to a safer future

Wednesday, 16th January, 2019 4:48pm

Volvo hopes that by 2020 nobody should be seriously injured or killed in a new Volvo car.

At an event tonight, David Thomas, Managing Director of Volvo Car Ireland will explain how this will happen.

Hosted by the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII) Cork and Cork Chamber in the Cork International Hotel, the first MII Cork event of 2019 will see David Thomas discuss The Evolution of Safety - How Volvo Excels in a Premium Motoring Market.

He has worked for over 20 years in a number of senior management positions within the Volvo Car organisation, including a number of international roles in Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. Most recently, David has worked in the US market leading Customer Experience and Network for America.

Ray Lougheed, MII Cork Chairman said: “We are excited to go up a gear this year as we welcome a man at the very top of his game. As a huge car enthusiast myself, I’m excited to see my two passions come together; marketing and motors! This is the first time David Thomas has delivered a keynote address to the Cork business community, so we are expecting a big turnout to the Cork International Hotel this week.”

This presentation will focus on the evolution of the Volvo brand to date and their 2020 Vision which states that “by 2020 nobody should be seriously injured or killed in a new Volvo car”. David will also share insights into the strategies underlying this vision, and how Volvo will market and communicate their vision in the years ahead.

Event sponsor George Mills, Managing Director of Motor Dealerships with Johnson & Perrott said: “We are delighted to be event sponsors for the first MII Cork event of the year. We are proud to be the only Volvo dealership in Cork and love working with David and the entire Volvo team. With the eagerly anticipated move to our new purpose-built Volvo showroom in Bishopstown, we welcome the chance to meet everyone at Thursday’s exciting MII event.”
