How many are you asking to your wedding? A recent survey has shown that it is probably around 180 people.

The WeddingDates.ie survey also showed that two-thirds will also spend €5,000 on the engagement ring. The research also shows that couples are now spending more than €20,000 on their wedding.

August is the most popular month for weddings, with June coming in at second and September third. Surprisingly, Friday is the most popular day to get married, followed by Sunday.

56 per cent of couples will be engaged for one to two years, according to the survey.

More than one-in-three couples are now opting for a civil ceremony. The main reason for booking a venue, say couples, is the quality of the food.

The Cork International Hotel is holding The Wedding Planning Workshop on Saturday 6 April to help couples navigate through all the preparation.

Sara Kennedy from irishweddingblog.ie will be MC on the day. She said: “I’m thrilled to be on board as part of the first ever Wedding Planning Workshop. It makes complete sense to me to offer a relaxed, friendly environment for couples when they’re trying to make decisions on practical parts of their day. I can’t wait to meet the couples who come along to the Cork International Hotel and to hear the advice from some of the best in the business.”
