The healing power of meditation

Wednesday, 4th September, 2019 4:51pm

Modern life has its challenges and few of us are strangers to stress, anxiety and a feeling of finding it is difficult to cope at times in our life. This weekend a meditation workshop is to take place which will include talks and guided meditations. The workshop will be led by Kadam Adam Starr, principal teacher at Tara Kadampa Meditation Centre.

Having spent over 20 years practicing Buddhist meditation, Adam says that “through continual practice and familiarity, we can all learn to heal our mind very quickly. We can all learn to develop peaceful and positive states of mind,” he says.

In his workshops, Adam teaches how to connect to the natural peace of our own mind. “When you meditate correctly, your mind naturally becomes peaceful. It just happens. And it happens every time. Then you have a place of refuge. Somewhere you can go to internally where you will always find some peace and freedom from physical and mental pain. This experience enables us to easily let go of unhealthy states of mind such as anxiety and fear.”

In his upcoming workshop entitled The Healing Power of Meditation, Adam will explore how, through the practice of meditation, to find deep and lasting peace of mind and happiness within ourselves. It takes place from 10.30am–1.45pm on Saturday 7 Sept. at the Republic of Work, 12 South Mall. The cost is €30 and booking is essential at
