Three brides meet again after 46 years

Thursday, 17th October, 2019 8:51am

Three couples who married on the same day 46 years got the chance to finally meet up again at the same venue. The couples, who all got married at Metropole Hotel, all met up again to discuss their wedding breakfasts recently.

Out of the three brides, two stayed in contact with each other after meeting again on a train to Dublin.

All three of the brides worked in the former Sunbeam factory in Cork.

The reunion happened because of the Metropole Hotel's new Wedding Club. Earlier in the year the hotel issued an appeal to couples who had their wedding reception at the Metropole over the last 50 years.

Another couple that joined in on the celebrations was 95 and 96 year old, Mr and Mrs Skinner who got married at the hotel 68 years ago.

General Manager at the Metropole Hotel, Roger Russell said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response from couples who had their reception at the Metropole Hotel over the years. We have had so many visitors to the hotel over the last few months to tell us their stories about their wedding. Over the last 50 years, we have had more than 3,000 weddings at the hotel and we look forward to celebrating with the couples.”

The Metropole Hotel is also putting together a wedding wall at the hotel which will show wedding photographs over the years. Also couples who married at the Metropole will be entitled to join the Wedding Club and will receive a platinum card which will entitle them to exclusive discounts and offers within the Metropole Hotel for life.
