A good year for the hammer

Wednesday, 4th December, 2019 5:17pm

The Munster Property Auction has finished its year on a high note selling almost all of the lots offered at 2019’s final public auction.

The company managed to shift over 94 per cent of the properties on offer at its fifth and final auction event of the year, with strong interest and viewing levels reported in the lead up to the event.

A large crowd was in attendance, all in the hope of securing a property before Christmas rolled in.

The auction result adds to the results of the previous four of 2019, leaving the company with an impressive 92 per cent sold rate over the course of the year. Patrick Convey, company director, put the success of the company’s auctions down to the large marketing campaigns it undertakes in Ireland and abroad.

He also highlighted that, while this may have been the company’s final public auction event of the year, the auction team will be selling properties on online auction website right up to Christmas, with an online auction event taking place on 17 December.

The Munster Property Auction is now also taking entries for its first online and public auction event of 2020, which take place on 6 and 27 February.

One of the more significant lots sold at the recent auction was a 4.5 acre site in in Blackpool, on Bóthar na Choimín. The lot received good local interest before the public auction, opening at €25,000 and ultimately going for €62,000 after a flurry of almost 40 bids.

Another popular lot was a large, detached, former public house located in Buttevant, which was sold in partnership with DNG John Ryan. The Castle Inn is ideally located on a large corner site and the auction team noted strong pre-auction interest before the hammer fell to a buyer in the auction room at €125,000.

A centrally located three bed, terraced property was offered for sale on the Ballyhooly Road, Montenotte, in partnership with partners Matt Fallon. This property received a high level of enquiries before the auction. There was several parties in attendance and on the phone as pre registered bidders and it was sold for €142,000.
