Skin and gut health clinic opens

Thursday, 7th November, 2019 8:45am

Just what exactly is gut health anyway? According to author of 'Lets Talk About Happiness', Frances Flannery, a dedicated gut health expert for over ten years and founder of Vitality Centre Grafton Street, gut health is a way of balancing wellness issues.

Possible issues include skin problems, psoriasis, acne, bloating and even weight gain, and can be treated by getting to the root cause of issues which may be in the gut.

When Pat Kenny recently interviewed Frances on Newstalk about the opening of her new clinic, Vitality Centre, on Grafton Street she explained: “Your gut is like a garden. Antibiotics and other medications act like weed-killer to the trillions of microbiome in the gut or bowel. Therefore, everyone has imbalanced gut flora. These medications kill off all gut flora so that resilient weeds of the gut flora take over causing wellness issues. Those gut weeds include candida and other harmful fungal microbiome which result in problems elsewhere in the body.

“The first thing any gardener does is to clear the weeds before they plant the new seeds. Since your gut has its own microscopic garden, colonics are used to clear the weeds like candida that are in your bowel before replanting with probiotics directly into the bowel. Food plays a role which is why we offer advanced FDA approved food intolerance testing to identify triggers to gut health and skin issues.”

If you are someone who wants to try colonics but were put off by the idea of loss of privacy, Vitality Centre has introduced a brand new system.

The new FDA-approved system used by Vitality Centre Grafton Street is known as the Harley Street Method and features smaller disposable tubes, a personal shower and no loss of privacy.

The Harley Street Method of colonic hydrotherapy is now €90, probiotic enemas are €120 and liver coffee enemas are €120. IPL Laser for acne, pigmentation and spots and red vein removal is on special offer at €299 for three sessions, while food intolerance testing is now €120.
