New hearing clinic opens in Blackrock

Wednesday, 14th October, 2020 2:28pm

A new hearing clinic is opening in Blackrock. Senior Audiologist Jim Williamson is bringing the ‘hear and now’ to Blackrock with the opening of a handy new audiology clinic at the Blackrock Hall Primary Care Centre.

To celebrate the opening, Hidden Hearing is offering €200* off the price of a pair of hearing aids, for Cork Independent readers.

Hidden Hearing is a specialist hearing healthcare provider which has the latest digital technology to diagnose and treat hearing problems. Free hearing tests and sample hearing aids are available, as well as free aftercare services including a lifetime of free batteries, a 90-day money back guarantee and free six-monthly check-ups.

Recent international research shows that many Irish people are failing to acknowledge and treat hearing loss, which could have serious knock-on health implications. Ignoring hearing loss has implications for our health and safety, and that of others, according to Jim: “Not being able to hear clearly will put people in dangerous situations. They may not hear an oncoming car or work equipment starting up, or they can miss a warning call.”

Medical research shows that not remedying hearing loss also has knock-on effects like isolation and depression, and is associated with heart problems, diabetes and dementia.

A recent Lancet Commission report on Dementia Prevention, Intervention and Care, indicated that the risk of dementia can be cut, simply by treating hearing loss.

Wearing a hearing aid to address hearing loss could significantly reduce the risk of developing the condition, according to the review, led by Prof Gill Livingston of University College London.

Good hearing facilitates communication, social interaction, relationships and day to day activities, Jim says, and he is encouraging locals with hearing worries to get in touch at the new Blackrock Hall Primary Care Centre clinic.

Appointments can be made on 021-4272565 for free hearing tests along with a full evaluation of your hearing. You can also book an appointment online at hiddenhearing.ie.
