Memory mass this month

Wednesday, 7th November, 2018 4:49pm

The annual candlelight service, Light Up a Memory Mass, will take place this month.

The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart are inviting the public to join them in prayer at the mass, which will celebrated on 24 November at 6.30pm, in the Sacred Heart Church on Western Road.

Each year, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart invite mission friends to send the names of their dearly departed for remembrance, and the list is kept on the altar throughout the month.

On this night every year, the Sacred Heart Church glows with the light of hundreds of candles and each flame burns in honour of those who have died.

With music by Gerry and Deirdre Tuohy, Fr Michael O’Connell MSC will be the main celebrant with the sermon by parish priest Fr Tom Mulcahy MSC.

Fr Michael said: “The Light Up a Memory Mass is a lovely way to remember loved ones who are always in our thoughts. The light of a candle is always a welcome sight on a cold November night, and every flame is a tribute to beloved friends and relatives whose memories we treasure.”
