Garda's car left unlocked

Wednesday, 9th January, 2019 5:05pm

Even the gardaí can be victims of crime!

A car owned by a member of An Garda Síochána in Cork was left unlocked and thieves were able to rob its contents.

It came to light at a community forum for the St Luke’s area on Monday during a warning for people to make sure they are locking their cars after a spate of robberies in the past few weeks.

Gardaí told those at the meeting that in the majority of cases the cars were unlocked and said it can happen to anyone, including members of An Garda Síochána too.

Superintendent Mick Comyns said: “One of the cars was owned by a garda. It’s an easy mistake to make so be cautious and lock up.”
