Blackrock cocaine bust

Thousands of euro worth of cocaine was seized on the southside of Cork city yesterday, gardaí have this morning confirmed. 

Gardaí arrested a man and seized about €70,000 worth of suspected cocaine in Blackrock on Thursday evening. Shortly before 5pm, gardaí from Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit stopped and searched a car on Bessboro Road. 

During the search gardaí seized approximately €70,000 worth of suspected cocaine which will now be sent for analysis. 

A garda spokesperson said: “A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and brought to Bridewell Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.”
