Are you the next Young Offender?

Wednesday, 10th April, 2019 5:11pm

Fancy being a Young Offender without the jail time? Do you know THE dance?

Well your could be in luck, as the ‘The Young Offenders’ is looking for actors to appear in its second season.

The hit BBC/RTÉ series is casting its net out for talented actors following the success of its original run on the small screen last year, when audiences fell in love with hapless duo Conor and Jock, played by Corkonians Alex Murphy and Chris Walley.

Calling out aspiring actors on social media, the show said: “Ideal applicants will: be class at riding a bike; know THE dance; sing enthusiastically in a surprise singsong situation; love ducks (and yer mam)”, as well as “not be Billy” (Murphy, the pain-in-the-neck hooligan played by Shane Casey).

2019 has already seen success for some of the show’s stars; this week Chris Walley won an Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his part in Martin McDonagh's ‘The Lieutenant of Inishmore’, while Demi Isaac Oviawe, who plays Conor’s girlfriend Linda in the series, appeared on RTÉ series ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and Shane Casey recently took his ‘Wet Paint’ theatre production on a run in The Everyman Theatre.
