A splash of colour for Blackpool

Wednesday, 12th June, 2019 5:09pm

Blackpool’s streetscape is about to receive an artistic and vibrant rejuvenation.

Rebel Streets will kick off on 14 June and will engage with the local population through art workshops and projects to bring colour to Blackpool.

Undertaking the project are local business Ceiling & Allied in partnership with Cork Community Art Link (CCAL). The project marks 40 years in business for Ceiling & Allied which is located on Watercourse Road.

As part of the project, Ceiling & Allied have sponsored a river sculpture which will be installed this weekend on the Watercourse Road plaza.

The sculpture will be developed by artist Sam Hamilton and will aim to refresh the area of the river that is visible on the Watercourse Road.

The event will see The Lido Building repainted and a number of art interventions around the streets of Blackpool. Prior to the event, Ceiling & Allied will embark on a deep clean of the Watercourse Road.

Commenting on the project, Managing Director of Ceiling & Allied Declan McElhinney said: “We are delighted to work with CCAL and sponsor these very important projects to revamp the Blackpool area. With our 40th anniversary this year, we were eager to work with the community to improve our local area, so we are even more delighted that we can work with our local community on our own doorstep.”
