Gardaí launch murder investigation

Monday, 9th September, 2019 10:35am

Gardaí in Cork have launched a murder investigation after the Office of the State Pathologist completed a post mortem examination yesterday on the body of a man in his 50s.

The body was discovered by gardaí in a house on the Bandon Road in Cork city on Saturday morning after 11.30am. For operational reasons, investigating gardaí are not releasing the details of the post mortem, but have confirmed that it is now a murder investigation.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information and are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Bandon Road/McCurtain Villas area of Cork city between Monday 2 and Saturday 7 September.

Any members of the public who may have dash cam footage are asked to contact the incident room at Anglesea Street on 021-4522000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station.
