Man in court for drugs bust

A man who was arrested in relation to the seizure of approximately €195,000 of suspected cannabis appeared before Mallow District Court yesterday.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested on Monday morning when gardaí carried out a search on a house in the Quartertown area of Mallow where they seized €125,000 of suspected cannabis herb.

A subsequent search was carried out shortly after 9.30pm on the same day which uncovered a further €70,000 of suspected cannabis, bringing the total to €195,000.

The searches were carried out by gardaí from the Mallow District Drugs Unit, assisted by the Armed Support Unit and the Regional Dog Unit.

The man was held in Mallow Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

The suspected cannabis herb has been sent for analysis.
