Clubs and charities reap Indie benefit

Thursday, 7th November, 2019 8:55am

A number of clubs and charities benefited again this year from donations from the Mitchelstown festival, with more than €15,000 donated.

Those benefiting from Indie19 were Bumbleance, Marymount Hospice, Special Friends, Mitchelstown GAA, Park United, Mitchelstown Rugby Club, Glenahulla National School and Mitchelstown Community Council.

Kieran Walsh of Indie said: “It’s something that’s very important to us and we hope to be able to continue it in the future. We have always enjoyed very good working relationships locally here in Mitchelstown and with the wider Cork community, so it's nice to be able to put something back in after every festival.”

Indie19 saw headliners Bastille, Lewis Capaldi and Biffy Clyro play to crowds of 15,000 people while tickets for Indie20 have gone on sale with headliners expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

Following on from its largest festival to date this summer, the 2019 donations bring Indie donations to local clubs and charities to almost €100,000 over the past ten years.

“We're delighted to be able to help out these very worthwhile causes in any way we can and look forward to doing the same again in 2020,” added Mr Walsh.
