Shots fired in Mahon

A garda investigation is continuing after shots were fired on the southside of Cork city on Tuesday evening. Gardaí are investigating the incident of shots being fired at a house in the Avenue De Rennes area of Mahon shortly before midnight on 17 March.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána told the Cork Independent: “It is reported that a number of males armed with a firearm fired shots through the front door of the house before fleeing on foot. No injuries occurred.”

A search of the area was carried out with help from members of the armed support and a garda dog unit. The scene was also preserved into the early hours of 18 March for a technical examination.
