Jobs boost for both Blarney and Carrigtwohill

Thursday, 4th June, 2020 10:15am

There was welcome news on the jobs front this week with more than 100 jobs announced by two separate companies.

Compliance software firm OneLook Systems announced plans to hire more staff as demand for compliance solutions grows rapidly in Ireland and around the world. The firm, based in Carrigtwohill, confirmed on Tuesday that it will hire at least ten people this year to fill roles in the areas of software development, sales, customer success and more.

More than 30 people currently work at the company and in the past 12 months, the Cork firm has opened a base in Malaysia and another office in the US.

CEO of OneLook Systems Pat King said: “We’ve spent 12 years helping people manage the staff, contractors and visitors who come to their workplaces and this is now becoming the norm for many, many more. What people are looking for is the peace of mind of knowing they’ve taken all reasonable steps to protect their workforce and enterprise, and our products can provide that, in a solution that’s tailored to their industry.”

Meanwhile doTERRA, which makes essential oils and wellness products, is set to create up to 100 new jobs in Blarney. The Irish operation will serve as doTERRA’s European manufacturing headquarters and will make and distribute its products to the European marketplace as well as provide increased capacity to serve other international markets including the Middle East and Africa.

The 95,000 square foot facility consists of cleanrooms, bottling rooms, office space, a lab, cold storage and warehousing and is expected to be completed by the end of July.

There are currently ten employees based in Cork, and the company will look to add a number of operations roles and warehouse staff in August as the facility ramps up to start production in September.

The company will grow its staff in quality control, supply chain management, finance, legal and HR as production increases. doTERRA’s arrival in Ireland is the result of a capital investment made by the company of more than €10m. Construction of the facility began in October 2019 and to date the project has supported more than 60 construction jobs.

David Stirling, doTERRA Founding Executive and CEO said: “doTERRA Europe is thriving and enjoying record growth as more people continue to share and use doTERRA’s essential oils. doTERRA sources so many of its essential oils from Europe and we are thrilled that this facility allows us to greatly reduce our carbon footprint by ensuring that these oils intended for European customers never leave Europe.”

The privately held company was founded in 2008 and employs more than 3,500 people in the US and multiple offices around the world.

IDA Ireland said that it supported the company in its search for a European headquarters. Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland said: “doTERRA’s arrival in Cork shows the confidence business leaders have in a region that continues to assert its adaptability and agility despite some extraordinary challenges that have emerged as a result of the global pandemic.”
