Cork City FC announce 5K Liam Miller run

Cork City FC will host its third annual 5K run and this year the race is in honour of former City player Liam Miller who passed away in February following a battle with cancer.

The 5K is in association with Marymount Hospice and will take place on 29 July at 10.30am starting and finishing at the Bishopstown Training Ground at Curraheen.

The 5K is for both serious and casual runners, wheelchair rollers, and walkers, of any age. With €100 first prize for first male, and another €100 for first female, there are sure to be more than a few runners that will want the honour of claiming the cash. There is €50 for second place, and €25 for third place, for male and female, to be competed for also.

The first place under 16 male, and first place under 16 female, will both receive a €25 voucher each. Over 20 other spot prizes will be awarded at the event.

Miller played one season with City, in 2015, before transferring to United Soccer League side Wilmington Hammerheads. The 36 year old was a patient of Marymount during his cancer battle. Entry is €10 for adults, €5 for under 16s and €25 for a family entry.
