Wednesday, 4th September, 2019 4:40pm

An outstanding football talent was recently recognised for his part in Cork’s All-Ireland Under 20 football win. Cathal O’Mahony was named as the most recent monthly recipient of the Cork City and County Youth Award for his man of the match display in the final win against Dublin.

O’Mahony started to learn his trade at the age of five with Mitchelstown and Ballygiblin, winning primary titles with his school, Mitchelstown CBS, going on to win three premier two counties and three Munster titles and one All-Ireland title with the secondary school.

As well as winning a Munster and All-Ireland title with the Cork under 20s this year, Cathal was also named as the Player of the Province for Munster.

He was presented with his award at the Metropole Hotel by General Manager Roger Russell with Lord Mayor Cllr John Sheehan, sponsors John Buckley Sports, under 20 manager Keith Ricken and Mitchelstown GAA Chairman Mike Price all in attendance along with his mother, Angela.
